This course will give you the opportunity to learn and develop make up,
wig & hair skills, and gain the knowledge and techniques needed to work in film, theatre and TV.
During the course, you will focus on the following; Health & Safety, Photographic Make Up, Media Make Up, Airbrushing Make Up, Cosmetic Camouflage, False Lash Applications, Fitting Wigs & Postiche, Cosmetic Make Up Science and Anatomy & Physiology for Make Up Services.
There will be opportunities for enrichment activities, including trade shows and trips. You will need a uniform and make up kit.
Work experience is an essential requirement, this will include evenings and weekends at local theatres and community venues and services.
The course is assessed through a combination of practical observations of make up looks, group assessments, external written exams and graded synoptic assessment. You will also need to compile a portfolio of evidence.
You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and Maths. Art may also be beneficial.
A Pass in Level 2 Hair & Make Up Artistry, or related qualification, may also be considered.
You could progress to another Level 3 qualification in Hair or Beauty or an exciting range of higher or professional level courses in Hair or Beauty. An Apprenticeship may also be considered.
This course is also ideal if you are interested in a career working in Film, Theatre, TV, the Fashion Industry or as a Freelance Make Up Artist.
