Travel & Hospitality Level 2

Please note, this course information is for September 2021 entry.
The new admissions cycle for September 2022 entry will open in October 2021, and we recommend you check back for updates to course information.

This course will open up a range of amazing careers by offering two different pathways. Learn about the ever-changing world of Travel & Tourism, whilst also discovering the exciting Hospitality Industry and putting valuable skills into practice in the College’s in-house Training Restaurant.

During the course, you will study The UK Travel & Tourism Sector and look at
the Customer Service Experience. Organising, and Event and Career Planning in Travel and Tourism are also considered. You will also have the opportunity to learn about Hospitality in Travel and Tourism, and Hospitality and Catering Services (Hospitality Services).

Course lecturers will provide you with feedback so that you can see how you are progressing through the course, and which level you are currently working at. Department staff have industry and academic experience and will guide you towards gaining the highest level that you are able to achieve.

In addition to working in the College Training Restaurant, Bistro at B63, which is open to the public, you will be expected to undertake a one week work experience placement. This will enable you to gain valuable hospitality and customer service skills.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of coursework, class assessments and presentations/role play.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English, and Maths. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course, including in Travel, Aviation & Hospitality.

You could consider a junior position as a Travel Agent, Resort Representative, Hotel Receptionist, Event Planner, Cabin Crew or other roles in Hospitality or at an airport.
