New for September 2024 - Halesowen Town Women's Football Academy

This course focuses on the balance of being a part time Footballer, whilst also focusing on academic studies. You will have lessons on basic Sport topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Fitness, Psychology and Sports Coaching, giving you a well-rounded and in-depth knowledge of the Sports industry. As well as specific academic development, within the Football Academy you will also have specific football coaching sessions, where you will develop their technical and tactical understanding of the sport, in preparation for competitive games. Training and football matches are overseen by F.A qualified staff, ex professional and non-league players, allowing students to benefit from a wealth of experience.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge in topics that suit the demands of Sports Science, Coaching and Performance in higher education or the Sports industry, including Anatomy and Physiology , participating in sport , sports coaching, developing tactical awareness & Nutrition.

As a Football Academy student, you will have the opportunity to play against a range of national football academies, showcasing your abilities and skills and potentially, earning yourself possible trials with non-league and professional football clubs.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through coursework including, written reports, formal presentations, poster designs and leading practical sessions.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English, Maths and Science. You should also be a keen and practising Footballer, currently playing for a football team.

Level 2 vocational Science qualification may also be considered at Distinction or Merit Level.

You will be required to complete a successful trial to be accepted onto the programme.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a range of higher level courses, including Sport & Exercise Science HNC/D, degrees and professional qualifications, such as Sports Studies, Sports Development, Teaching and Coaching. 

The qualification will lead on to the pathways listed above, after which, jobs in Sports Coaching, PE Teaching, Sports Psychology, Nutrition, Biomechanics, Sport Science, Performance Analysis, Sports Development and Strength & Conditioning may be an option depending on the degree studied.
