Music Technology BTEC Level 3
About this course
This course uses a variety of well-structured modules to focus on production and the technical aspects of the music industry.
Although the course does not require any existing knowledge, or the ability to play an instrument, it would be beneficial.
Throughout the course you will study a range of modules including, Production Techniques, Music for the Moving Image, Technology in Performance, Live Sound, Music & Society, The Sound & Music Industry, Listening Skills, Backline Technical Management, Music Events Management and Sequencing Systems & Techniques, Composition and more.
All the modules are aimed at providing real situations and briefs, for example once every half term technology students set up a live sound system at a professional setting. They then manage engineering of lights and sound.
You will also be encouraged to network with local bands and music students to provide near professional quality recordings taking part in the College's record label and radio station.
As well as practical work, you will also learn the theory behind your actions and gain a full understanding of the impact of music.
What do I need?
- 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C including English and Maths at grade 4 (grade C)
In certain circumstances we will accept variations to this entry guide and create a personalised programme.
