The course is structured around providing industry experience through live briefs and backed up with a solid core of theoretical knowledge based in Music, Physics and Maths principles.

The course of study includes modules such as Studio Production, Live Sound, Events Management, Sequencing, Acoustics and many more.

To further enhance your employability skills there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement.

This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.

What will I learn?

All modules are delivered and assessed in real vocational terms where possible, this is achieved through external live shows, festivals, theatre productions and working with partners in industry across radio, events, gaming and more.

The course approaches key principles through modules such as Acoustics, Music Theory, Backline Technical Management and Sound & Music Industry, ensuring you have a strong theoretical knowledge to back up practical work and allow progression to degree courses.

Music Production & Sound Engineering allows for the development of many core skills such as communications, organisation, problem solving, Maths, English and Science and is delivered with the latest technology by industry experienced professionals.

How will I be assessed?

Through written assignments, practical coursework, external exam board briefs and live briefs in partnership with our local employers.

What do I need?

You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English.

Some understanding of Music theory or experience of Music sequencing software would be useful.
