This course is ideal if you wish to develop a good overall understanding of modern Digital Technologies these will include IT, Computer Science and creative skills.
If you enjoy creativity and developing technical knowledge along with analytical skills, then this course is for you.

The course will provide you with the core skills necessary to work within the digital industries through the 2 exams that cover the essentials of IT and Cyber Security. This is supported by several coursework units where you will work in teams to design, develop and pitch a product of your choice. You will also develop skills within the fields of data analysis and emerging technologies, and learn how to work within the growing field of social media management.

You will develop the skills necessary to go straight into employment in a wide variety of fields, or to progress into the Level 3 course.

To further enhance your employability, there will be opportunities for you to complete a 1 week work experience placement. This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of examinations and assignments, which will include formal team working, practical work, presentation and report writing.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English and Maths. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a range of Level 3 vocational courses, including in IT, Business or Media.
