Music Performance - Level 3 - Year 1

Looking for a career in Music? You have plenty to choose from!

As a musician you are effectively a self-employed specialist who can turn their hand to multiple income streams at once, leaving you with the prospect of doing something you love for a living!

This Level 3 programme offers a chance for you to develop multiple skills in order to give yourself the experience and knowledge to go into any number of career pathways while developing important transferable skills that will aid any learner in any industry.

You will take part in numerous external shows including our acclaimed Mayfly Festival and you will benefit from the experience of staff who are both seasoned professionals and trained teachers.

All of this as well as using our specialist equipment including six live rooms, three studios, two Mac suites and miles of jack leads! We practise what we preach!

To further enhance your employability skills there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement.

This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be a combination of performance, coursework and theory.

What do I need?

You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English.

You will be expected to attend a live audition and experience of playing an instrument is vital.

  • Halesowen College - Music HND or choose from a range of HNC/D, Foundation Degrees and professional qualifications
  • University - related degree such as Music, Performance, Public Relations, Teaching and Marketing

Additional information

The course requires you to have some ability with a chosen instrument and may be tailored to support your playing.

You will be invited to an audition for which you should prepare a piece of music on your instrument or a song of your choice.
