If you are committed and enthusiastic about having a career in Dance this is the course for you.
The course has been developed to prepare you for higher education and for a variety of careers in the dance industry.
The content of the course offers an exciting opportunity to develop your dance skills and creativity through the study of Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz techniques, performance skills and choreography to assist you in your future.
To further enhance your employability skills there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement.
This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.
The majority of the course will be assessed internally, in the form of practical and written assignments. However, a percentage of the course will require external examinations assessed by the awarding body.
You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English.
You must have some dance experience and upon applying for the course will be invited to attend a Group dance workshop. Please bring practical dance clothes and/or shoes to the workshop.
There will be opportunities to go on trips to see live professional dance works and work with professional visiting choreographers and teachers.
There may also be the option of taking on an extra qualification which will enable you to gain work experience, create a company and take on a role within the company to broaden your knowledge and understanding of the dance industry.
This qualification could increase your UCAS points and university options.
