The Level 2 Pharmacy Assistant Apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that provides individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to work in a Pharmacy setting. The Apprenticeship is designed for people who are already working in, or wish to start working in, a Pharmacy Assistant role.
The Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and classroom-based learning. The Apprentice will be employed by Pharmacy and will work alongside experienced Pharmacy colleagues, learning the skills and knowledge required for the role through hands-on experience.
The duration of the apprenticeship varies depending on the individual and the employer but typically takes 12-18 months to complete.
The Apprenticeship is a great way for individuals to gain the skills and qualifications needed to work in a pharmacy setting whilst gaining valuable on the job experience.
The Apprenticeship is open to anyone who is 16 or over and not in full-time education. It is suitable for both school leavers and people who are already working in a pharmacy role but want to gain formal qualifications and develop standards.
The Apprenticeship covers a range of pharmacy-related skills, including:
Ideally GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 (Equivalent to grade C) or higher.
You must be employed in a relevant role, or have an employer lined up to begin your apprenticeship.
The Apprenticeship is assessed through an end-point assessment, which includes a Vocational Competence Observation, Professional Practice Test and Professional discussion.
Upon completion of the Apprenticeship, the apprentice will gain a Level 2 Qualification/Standard in Pharmacy Services.
An apprenticeship is a real job, with hands-on experience, a salary and the chance to train while you work. You would be treated just like all the other employees, with a contract of employment, holiday leave and employee benefits. You would receive support from a dedicated assessor who regularly visits apprentices in the workplace.
