Elective Home Education

Our programme aims to support electively home educated learners to achieve relevant qualifications, develop transferable skills and be confident so they are prepared to progress onto a post-16 course that is suitable for them.

EHE is a part-time course for young people aged 14-16 (school years 10 and 11) who are electively home educated. We provide young people with an opportunity to study at Level 2/GCSE up to 16 hours a week.

We recognise that EHE students may have had poor school experiences, or no formal education before,  and we are committed to providing an inclusive curriculum that supports learners from all backgrounds to succeed.

We believe in the transformative power of education and will work with passion, enthusiasm and integrity to support our students to fulfil their potential.

We offer a range of pathways for students starting in September 2026 (qualifications on offer are subject to change).

Level Up: Preparing for Advanced Study (2 – year programme)

  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE English Language
  • GCSE English Literature

This programme is perfect for students aiming for advanced studies. It provides core subjects needed for a strong academic foundation (Maths, English, Biology, etc.) and offers a technical qualification (L2 Ex Cert in IT) to broaden the scope of learning. The inclusion of Citizenship helps students develop a well-rounded understanding of society, which is valuable for higher education and future employability.

  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE English Language
  • GCSE Media studies
  • L2 Ex Cert in IT (2 GCSE EQUIVALENT) OR

Designed for students looking to build key skills for further education, this will offer a combination of traditional academic subjects (Maths, English, Media Studies) and practical qualifications in IT or project management. This equips students with both academic knowledge and transferable skills, preparing them for university or vocational study, as well as work placements. The HPQ adds value by building research and project skills, which are highly valued in higher education.

Accelerate: Preparing for FE (1 year programme)

  • GCSE Maths

The condensed format of this one-year programme allows students to gain a strong foundation in academic and practical subject.

Ready, Set, GCSE! (1 or 2 – year programmes)

GCSE Maths and English Language.

This programme offers a straightforward, focused route for students who need to concentrate on the essential GCSEs in Maths and English. The flexibility of offering both 1-year and 2-year options means it can cater to students who may need additional support to achieve these foundational qualifications. These GCSEs are crucial for further academic progression, employability, and higher education access, so this course ensures that all students have the opportunity to succeed in these key subjects.

Please note, individual circumstances will be discussed at interview.
