Apprenticeships at Halesowen College
Apprenticeships are transforming the way people learn, work and grow in their careers, and at Halesowen College, we offer a wide range of apprenticeship programmes to help you take the next step towards a brighter future.
Anyone over 16 can apply for an apprenticeship; whether you’re leaving school or college, or wanting to upskill, gain new qualifications, and seek new career opportunities.
Earn, Learn, and Progress
Apprenticeships allow you to earn and learn at the same time. You’ll gain practical skills, workplace knowledge and a real-world understanding of your chosen field. And the benefits don’t stop there – apprenticeships can also lead to higher education opportunities, including degree-level qualifications.
More than a qualification
An apprenticeship is more than a qualification – it’s a real job combined with study. You’ll gain nationally-recognised qualifications and valuable hands-on experience, all whilst earning a wage.
Your working week will be split between working on-the-job and completing structured off-the-job training, an essential part that ensures you gain the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in your role and can include:
- Classroom sessions or workshops at Halesowen College.
- Online learning modules to expand your expertise.
- Shadowing or mentoring opportunities, which are carefully planned and documented.
Get support every step of the way
Halesowen College has staff in place that can support learners throughout the apprenticeship process.
Our trained assessors will support and monitor your progress and visit you in your workplace to ensure you are meeting the apprenticeship standards. You will be assigned a workplace mentor who will be your main point of contact and will support you with training and work-shadowing opportunities.
What you will need?
To be over 16 years of age and a UK citizen.
Meet the entry requirements for the apprenticeship standard you are interested in.
An employer in place that can support you throughout the apprenticeship, with a job role that enables you to meet the requirements of the apprenticeship standard. If you need support in finding an employer, our Employer Engagement Team can work with you.
An up-to-date CV that will help you secure a job interview. We can work with you to develop this and also to prepare you for interviews.
