The City & Guilds Level 3 Dental Nursing Practitioner Diploma is designed to train learners as a dental nurse. During the 18-month course, learners will attend college 1 day a week for theory delivery. The rest of the course will be completed in a dental placement.

Course content

Throughout the course, Learners must complete 11 mandatory units, including:

Professional practice
Health & safety
Infection control
Anatomy and oral health assessments
First aid and medical emergencies
Radiography
Periodontal and restorative support
Prosthetic and endodontic procedures
Extractions and minor oral surgery
Oral and physical health promotion

What do I need?

Future apprentices ideally need a placement within a dental practice and to have English and maths at grade 4 or equivalent is desirable.

You must be employed in a relevant role, or have an employer lined up to begin your apprenticeship.

Portfolio of evidence
Practical observations (minimum 3)
Two externally marked MCQ exams
Summative practical observation
