The T Level in Health is a two year programme, designed for students who wish to peruse a career in Adult Nursing, Midwifery or Paramedic Science.

Course content

The first year of the course consists of the following:

The Healthcare Sector
Health, Safety and environmental regulations in the healthcare sector
Managing information and data in the healthcare sector
Good scientific and clinical practice
Health and wellbeing
Safeguarding
Employer-set Project
Science

Paper A is 2.5 hours.

Paper B is 2.6 hours.

Employer-set Project is 14 hours.

Alongside the above, students will complete 1 day a week in placement and 3 weeks of block placement in care homes. Students will complete 3 formative assessments throughout year 1 to support academic development. Students will be required to complete independent study alongside scheduled timetabled lessons.

Towards the end of year 1, students will be interviewed for a place on the Supporting Adult Nursing Occupational Specialism or the Supporting Midwifery Occupational Specialism.

Students will complete Core and Occupational Specialism. Students will be assed through analysis, written information and simulated experiences.

Alongside this, students will complete clinical placements working alongside NHS trained staff in adult nursing or midwifery. Students will complete 1 day placement and 3 block placement weeks.

The total number of placement hours are 315 hours over the two years.

What do I need?

5 GCSE’s including Maths, English and Science at Grade 5 or above.

Students will be invited to an interview, this is a two part task. The first part is a group discussion and observation completed by teachers followed by a panel interview. If successful, pending achievement of entry requirements, students will be offered a place on the course

How will I be assessed?

T Level Year 1 is Paper A and Paper B and Employer-set Project as well as 3 formative assessments, 3 block placement weeks and 1 day placement in a care home.

T Level Year 2 is a case study assessment, 2 practical assessments and a professional discussion. As well as 3 block clinical placements in Dudley Trust hospitals and 1 day placement. students are required to achieve 315 hours overall placement hours.

Where can it take me?

Students who achieve this qualification could progress to the following, depending on their chosen occupational specialism:

Employment: Ambulance Support Worker, Healthcare Support Worker in a health setting, Senior Healthcare or Support Worker in a health setting
Paramedic (You will need to check entry requirements at your chosen University)
Higher Education
Apprenticeship (progression onto lower level apprenticeships may also be possible in some circumstances, if the content is sufficiently different)
