Employer Representative Boards

At Halesowen College, we believe in forging strong partnerships with employers to ensure our curriculum remains relevant, dynamic and aligned with the current demands of industry.

Our Employer Representative Boards (ERBs) are a vital link between education and industry; integral to us equipping learners with the skills they need to succeed in employment or Higher Education, while providing businesses with the skilled workforce they require to thrive.

One of the primary functions of our ERBs is to ensure that our curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of employers and the wider economy. By working closely with representatives from a range of industries, we can create a curriculum that reflects the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are most in demand. This collaborative approach ensures that our learners leave us with the competencies that employers value, giving them a clear pathway into employment or Higher Education.

Power Pack of Skills

In September 2024, we launched our Power Pack of Skills programme, designed specifically for full-time learners. This programme was developed with direct input from employers, reflecting their insights into the skills and attributes employees need. The Power Pack of Skills focuses on developing crucial soft skills, including digital literacy, communication, and problem-solving.

Power Partner Programme

This year sees the launch of our Power Partner programme. The programme offers businesses and organisations the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of learners through a skills pledge. This pledge allows partners to share their expertise, inspire the next generation, and support the development of a skilled and confident workforce. In return, participating organisations will benefit from increased visibility and the chance to position themselves as leaders in their field, plus a variety of discounts and benefits dependent on their level of interaction.

As part of the programme, employers and organisations can get involved in our Employer Representative Boards and play a direct role in shaping the future workforce, share their expertise, influence the curriculum, and ensure we prepare learners to meet the challenges of the workplace.
