A Professional Accounting Technician will have responsibility for creating, and/or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. Professional Accounting Technicians have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors.

On completion, you would gain knowledge within the following areas: Business Awareness, Ethical Standards, Regulation and Compliance and Systems and Processes.

The Skills that are built on include:  Analysis, Communication, Leadership, Producing quality and accurate information, Planning and Prioritisation, Team Working and Using Systems and Processes.

The Behaviours that are developed include: Adaptability, Adding Value, Ethics and Integrity, Proactivity and Professional Scepticism.

Applicants will have at least 5 GCSE’s at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English.
Applicants should have either completed the Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship or have an AAT Level 3 Qualification.
You must be employed in a relevant role, or have an employer lined up to begin your apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship is assessed through an end-point assessment, which includes a practical observation and professional discussion.

The Professional Accounting Technician apprenticeship allows student registration with a number of UK Professional Bodies in this sector. Completion of the Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship may also result in credits being awarded towards relevant undergraduate degree programmes.

An apprenticeship is a real job, with hands-on experience, a salary and the chance to train while you work. You would be treated just like all the other employees, with a contract of employment, holiday leave and employee benefits. You would receive support from a dedicated assessor who regularly visits apprentices in the workplace.
