Unleash your creativity and explore the timeless craft of ceramics with our Ceramics skills course at Halesowen College. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this engaging course offers an insight into the wonderful world of working with clay.

From the moment you step into our fully equipped ceramics studio, you’ll have access to everything you need – including stoneware clays, coloured slips, a range of glazes, essential tools, and our professional firing kiln.

  • No experience necessary – perfect for beginner and intermediate skills alike
  • Taught in a supportive and creative environment
  • All tools and materials provided- All materials and firing costs are included
  • Receive a Halesowen College Certificate upon completion
Course content

Each week, you’ll build new skills and techniques as you create your own unique ceramic pieces:

  • Week 1: Pinch Pot Technique
  • Week 2: Explore Slab Rolling & Surface Decoration
  • Week 3: Construct with Slabs
  • Week 4: Learn the Art of Coiling
  • Weeks 5 & 6: Wheel work

By the end of the course, you’ll not only take home your handmade ceramic creations, but also gain a strong foundation in practical ceramic techniques

This course is open to adults aged 18+ of all skill levels – whether you’re trying ceramics for the first time or looking to refine your technique.

All tools and materials provided – All materials and firing costs are included.

Monday or Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm- Feb (5 week course starting from the 23rd Feb-24th March)

Monday or Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm- April (6 week course starting from the 13th April- 19th May)
