College Hosts Second Community Kitchen Event To Raise Spirits on Blue Monday

College Hosts Second Community Kitchen Event To Raise Spirits on Blue Monday

12 January 2026

A special Community Kitchen event will be held on Monday 19th January 2026 from 11:00 am – 1.30pm, until supplies last, at Somers Square, Halesowen Town Centre.

The initiative, which aims to boost community spirit and well-being on “Blue Monday”—often dubbed the most depressing day of the year—invites everyone, without restriction, to come together and raise funds for charity.

Local businesses are donating food, money, equipment and time for this great cause. There is no cost for attendees to enjoy the food, though donations are encouraged, with all proceeds going to support the charity Black Country Mental Health, a vital local service that aims to improver and promote better mental health.  The College’s Foundation learners will also be supporting the event, allowing them to gain key skills.

Participating Donors

The event organisers would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the following businesses and organisations for their generous contributions of food, funds, equipment and volunteer hours:

  • Halesowen College
  • Impulse Electrics – Generator
  • Halesowen Fruit and Veg Deli – Food supplies
  • Asda Halesowen – Food supplies
  • Halesowen Bid – Van Hire
  • Brakes – Packaging, Tea and Coffee

This collaborative effort reflects the strong community spirit of Halesowen and promises to be a day of warmth, connection and goodwill.

Join us on Blue Monday at Somers Square, where a simple meal and a shared moment can brighten the day and support a worthy cause.
