During the 2-year programme, you will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of media, broadcast and production occupations.

During your T Level Journey for Media, Broadcast and Production you will complete:

  1. 315-hour industry placement (approximately 45 days)
  2. A Technical Qualification – where you will specialise in a particular occupation.

 

It is split into two Components.

  1. The Core Component, which an exam and an Employer Set Project.
  2. The Occupational Specialist Component, which has a large project completed over 35 hours and 30 minutes.

 

You will gain knowledge and practical skills that will help you complete the assessments and prepare you for working in the industry. In the Core Component you’ll learn more about topics such as the creative economy, the individual in the creative industries, cultural context and vocabulary and audience and consumer needs. In the Occupational Specialism Component, you’ll develop the skills to prepare you for your career in media.

Content Creation Production – Occupational Specialism. Below is an idea of the content themes covered:

  • Generate original ideas and concepts to support content development.
  • Create a proposal document to outline proposed platform and format of content.
  • Present a pitch and negotiate with colleagues and/or clients using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Select and use appropriate tools to create a project plan.
  • Create planning documentation.
  • Research and identify resources to support production.
  • Create and manage the production of content.

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.

The Core Component assessment is an exam paper set for 2½ hours.

Employer Set Project – Pearson will create this with the help of our employer experts, the project is completed during a window in May over a 16½ hour duration.

The Occupational Specialism tasks will be completed over a few weeks (35½ hours), but before you start, you’ll have some time to do some research and prepare.

When you do the tasks you’ll work in exam conditions, sometimes you’ll be able to use the internet, but you won’t be able to do any of the work at home or ask your friends for help.

You will achieve the T level qualification in Media, Broadcast and Production. Your Technical Qualification will be the largest part of your T Level it will be a total of 1200 hours which equates to 3 A Levels.
