This is an intense study programme and is intended for those students who wish to continue into further and higher education.
The aim of the ESOL GCSE programme is to equip learners with 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above which is the minimum national standard required to progress onto courses at Level 3 or above.
Learners will complete GCSE English Language, GCSE mathematics (if not already achieved), GCSE Biology, GCSE Citizenship and Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in IT.
Learners must have achieved Level 1 Functional Skills English and will ideally have completed GCSE maths or already hold a Grade 3 from a previous attempt.
The course will be assessed by National examinations which take place in the summer of 2025.
Exam information specific to each subject will be provided at the start of the course or can be requested in advance if required.
Successful completion of the course will enable learners to apply for employment requiring the minimum standard of Grade 4 in English and maths. It will also provide 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above needed for progression into Further Education at Level 3 and above.
