This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as an advance Hairdresser/Stylist and includes, health & safety, client consultation, selling products and services to clients, advanced cutting, styling and colouring techniques. These units are all mandatory.

Course content

You will further develop your understanding and skills by selecting several optional specialist units which include, Maintaining Personal Health and Wellbeing, and Creative Hairdressing Design Skills.

Work experience is a compulsory element of the course and will give you a realistic experience of working in the Hairdressing Industry alongside your studies.

What do I need?

This course builds on existing knowledge and understanding of Hairdressing gained at Level 2, enabling learners to expand the scope of their technical skills to prepare for employment as a hairdresser.

Retaking GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of methods, including practical observations and external written exams. You will also need to compile a portfolio of evidence.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses and professional qualifications, including VTCT Level 4 Certificate, Diploma or Award in Salon Management, Specialist Hair and Scalp Services, Hair Colour Correction and Advanced Hair Styling.

This course is ideal if you are interested in working as an advanced Hairdresser/ Stylist in a Salon, in the Media, on a Cruise Ship, Hospitals/Care Homes, HM prisons, or in Product Manufacturing, Training or Self Employment.

Additional information

All timetables will incorporate evening classes running until approximately 8pm to ensure learners are work-ready and prepared for industry expectations.
