The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years.
The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.
Successful applicants will study a range of units to support them with a full understanding of how to support young children’s growth and development, and to keep them safe and healthy. Placement requirements will allow students to apply their knowledge to practice and evidence their competency in the work place.
A minimum of 4 grade 3’s at GCSE, to include Maths and English language, plus one grade 4 in either Maths or English Language. This will be followed by initial assessment tasks during the induction period, to ensure you are enrolled on the correct programme.
Assessment is carried out through coursework for unit completion and by assessments in the placement setting.
Progression to employment in the Early Years sector or to a level 3 qualification on successful completion of all elements of the course.
