Are you interested in a career in the Army, Police, Royal Navy, Prison Service, Fire Service, Border Force or Royal Air Force?
This flexible course is designed to introduce you to some of the skills and knowledge required for your chosen Public Services career. Skills you will develop for the services and alternative employment, include, Organisation, Communication and Teamwork. There are more specific units where you will find out about a range of Public Services jobs, you will also lead fitness tests, carry out security searches. and respond to simulated emergency incidents.
You will be expected to wear Public Service uniform each day in College and take part in formal parades, drill training and gain leadership and presenting skills. You will also have work experience opportunities throughout the course.
You will require a successful interview to gain entry onto this course. You will continue to study English and Maths at an appropriate level as part of your timetable. No entry requirements.
The course is assessed through coursework, which can be a variety of assessment methods such as observations, role plays, presentations and written reports.
You can progress to a Level 2 vocational course, including Public Services.
This course will prepare you for direct employment into the public sector and may be suitable for the following roles, Local Authority Administrator, Security Officer, a role with the Armed Forces, NHS Porter or Domestic Support Worker, Outdoor Activity Assistant or Leisure Assistant, although further training is advisable
