A Level and Vocational Combined. This qualification will run alongside two other A Levels of your choice.

On this course, you will be given the opportunity to explore and investigate different factors that impact sports performance, health, lifestyle and wellbeing. The course will enhance your knowledge and understanding of Sport from theoretical and practical perspectives, which are designed to cover a wide range of Sport Science related units, giving you the skills and knowledge required for higher education.

Areas of study include: Body systems and the effects of exercise, Sports coaching and Leadership, Organisation and development, Sports injuries and Rehabilitation, Sports Psychology, Additional Qualifications e.g. Coaching. This course leads on to sport related degree level of study such as Physiotherapy, Physical Education and Psychology if combined with science A levels.

Additional opportunities during your course of study include university visits and a trip to the National Cycling Centre in Manchester for a track day. Furthermore, during the first year of study, you will be given the opportunity to gain additional coaching qualifications in football and multi-skills which can enhance UCAS applications and employability prospects.

You will need to have GCSEs with 2 grade 6s and 3 grade 5s including English Language and Science, a grade 4 or above in Maths is also required.

This course is assessed through coursework and there are no examinations. Assessment is varied and could include methods such as assignments, workbooks, presentations, reports, academic posters and case studies.

You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses, including HNC/D in Sport. You could also consider a related degree, such as Sports Studies, Sport Science, Coaching, Physical Education, Physiotherapy, Sports Development, Sports Therapy or and Teacher Training. 

This course is ideal if you are interested in a career as a Coaching, Teaching, Performance Analysis, Sports Therapy, Sports Psychology, Nutrition, Sports Physiology, Sports Event Management and Leisure Centre Management. 

This course should be combined with A Levels

Good combinations could include Biology, Psychology, Dance or Sociology.
