Throughout this course you will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult and perform a range of treatments.

The units studied will include, Facial Skin Care, Removing Hair Using Waxing Techniques, Eyelash and Brow Treatments, Manicure/Pedicure Treatments, Make Up Application, Salon Reception Duties and Salon Health & Safety.

In addition, you will develop communication & customer service skills, awareness of environmental sustainability & commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, team working & research skills will also be developed.

The course also includes enrichment opportunities (in addition to your qualification) to enhance employability skills and meet industry trends. These may include workshops in Gel Nails and Nail Art.

Work experience is a compulsory element of the course, giving you a realistic experience of working in the industry alongside your studies.

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English and Maths. Science although beneficial not mandatory. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.

The course is assessed by a combination of practical units, tests and assignments. You will also be required to produce a portfolio of evidence. The evidence in
the portfolio may take the following forms including; observed work, witness statements, audio-visual media, evidence of prior learning or attainment, written questions, oral questions, assignments and case studies.

You could progress to a Level 3 vocational course, such as Beauty Therapy.

You could consider a junior position in a salon, retail setting or self employment.

All timetables will incorporate evening classes running until approximately 8pm to ensure learners are work-ready and prepared for industry expectations.
