Supported Internships

A Supported Internship is an unpaid structured programme offered and supported by Halesowen College. It is designed to enable people aged 16-24 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to move into sustainable employment.

What is the aim of the internship?

  • To support young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to transition from education into sustainable employment.
  • To develop employability and persona skills relevant to the workplace.
  • To provide an opportunity to show their value within the workplace.
  • The desired outcome of the internship would be for the young person to gain paid employment.

Please note: the Supported Internship programme at Halesowen College is an internal progression route for current students with an EHCP who are working towards paid employment. Referrals are made through internal review and transition planning rather than open application.
