Work experience is a key part of your course – you will need to find a minimum of 5 days over the course of the academic year to allow you to gain the knowledge of working within the Science industry; this could be at a Pharmacy, GP surgery, Pet Shop, Care home or somewhere else that is related to the Science sector. Your Personal Coach will help you write a plan for potential placements to help you gain this key skill.

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English, Maths and Science. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.

The course is assessed through coursework, including practical investigations, presentations and open book tests.

You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course, including Science, Engineering, Health & Social Care or IT.
