The T Level in Digital Support and Security is a career focused qualification that is equivalent to three A Levels, that combines classroom learning with real workplace experience. This course is ideal for students who are interested in cyber security, computer networking, problem solving and supporting digital systems in modern organisations.
In year 1, you will develop a strong foundation in the digital sector by exploring how technology is used within businesses and organisations. You will gain an understanding of digital environments, data, security, legislation, and emerging technologies, while developing the technical knowledge and professional skills needed to work in the industry.
In year 2, you will specialise in Digital Support and Security, developing the practical skills required for careers in cyber security and IT support. You will learn how to apply procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of organisations, identify and manage security risks and use reliable sources of information to investigate and respond to cyber threats.

The qualification also provides an excellent pathway into higher education, apprenticeships, or further specialist training within the digital sector.
The core content of the course includes areas such as problem solving, digital support, data management, cyber security, business context, legislation and regulatory requirements, and emerging issues within the digital industry. You will also learn about digital environments and how organisations protect information and systems from cyber threats.
As part of the course, you will find and undertake an industry placement of at least 315 hours, providing the opportunity to apply your learning in a professional setting while gaining insight into the day-to-day responsibilities within the digital sector.
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English, as you will be expected to create professional reports and conduct network analysis.

There will also be ongoing assessments in preparation for the end-of-year exams, including project work and practical demonstrations. For example, you may be tasked with finding a vulnerability in a network and explaining how it can be negated.
Most students who complete a T-Level go on to either employment or an apprenticeship with the employer who hosted their work placement. Alternatively, students may continue their studies at university, pursuing a degree in their chosen field before entering the workforce.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a T-Level qualification in Digital Support and Security.
