This is a two-year course is designed for students passionate about the world of games and interactive media.

This course provides a comprehensive foundation in creative media production, with a specialist focus on games design, development, and storytelling. The course is structured to support progression into higher education or employment in the games and digital media industries.

4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English Language and Maths. Alternatively, a Level 2 qualification in a related subject (e.g. Creative Media, IT, Art & Design) with a Merit or above.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a portfolio demonstrating their creative potential, which may include game concepts, artwork or digital designs, and any previous media or interactive projects, to help assess their suitability and enthusiasm for games design and creative media.

Project-Based Assessment

Students complete a series of practical and theoretical projects across the course.

Final Major Project (FMP)

The final unit in both the Diploma and Extended Diploma is a self-directed Final Major Project. This is a substantial piece of work that showcases the student’s skills, creativity, and understanding.

  • The FMP is graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction, and this grade determines the overall qualification grade.

This qualification provides a strong foundation for progression into the games industry or further study in creative media. Upon successful completion, students can progress to:

Creative Industry Pathways

Students will gain hands-on experience in the full game development process, from concept to prototype, using tools like Unity and Blender. Through practical projects, industry feedback, and portfolio development, they’ll build the creative and technical skills needed for further study or a career in games and interactive media.
