IT: Data Analytics is a Level 3 qualification designed for students who want to understand one of the most in-demand skill sets in the modern economy. You will learn how to collect, analyse, interpret, and present data to solve real problems across a range of industries.

You will develop practical, hands-on skills in spreadsheet modelling, relational databases, data visualisation, big data, and machine learning, all within realistic business and industry contexts. No prior IT qualification is required. Just bring curiosity, a logical mind, and a willingness to engage with the digital world around you.

Course content

The course is built around two examined units and a series of practical assignments.

Examined Units

· Fundamentals of Data Analytics: understanding how data works, how it is managed, and the legal and ethical responsibilities around it

· Big Data and Machine Learning: exploring how organisations harness massive datasets and emerging AI technologies

Practical Assignments

· Spreadsheet Data Modelling: designing and building real data solutions in Excel

· Relational Database Design: structuring and querying data effectively

· Data Visualisation: communicating data insights clearly and compellingly

What do I need?

2 GCSEs at Grade 6 or above and 3 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Grade 5 in both English Language and Mathematics.

An interest in technology, data, problem-solving, and digital innovation will help you make the most of the course.

How will I be assessed?

40% external examinations (two written papers)

60% internally assessed practical assignments, moderated by Cambridge OCR
