This qualification is designed for individuals who want to start a career as a bricklayer in the construction sector. Learners will develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in bricklaying.

Course content

Learners will complete all mandatory units:

Principles of building construction, information and communication
Contribute to setting out and building masonry structures up to damp proof course
Carrying out blocklaying activities
Carrying out bricklaying activities
Carrying out cavity walling activities
Health, safety and welfare in construction

What do I need?

A grade 2 in both Maths and English

How will I be assessed?

Written multiple-choice tests.

Practical assignments covering performance outcomes in blocklaying, bricklaying, cavity walling, and setting out masonry structures.

Where can it take me?

Learners can progress into employment in the bricklaying trade or advance to higher qualifications.
