This qualification is designed for individuals who want to work as a plasterer in the construction sector. Learners will develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in plastering.

The course covers:

Preparing background surfaces and plastering materials

Applying scratch coats
Fixing sheet materials
Applying floating coats
Applying setting coats

Course content

Learners must complete all seven mandatory units:

Principles of building construction, information and communication
Prepare background surfaces and mix plastering materials
Applying scratch coats to internal backgrounds
Fixing sheet materials
Applying floating coats to wall
Applying setting coats to wall
Health, safety and welfare in construction

What do I need?

You should have grade 2 or above in both Maths and English.

How will I be assessed?

Written multiple-choice tests
Practical assignments covering performance outcomes
Assessments are externally verified

Where can it take me?

Learners can progress into employment in the plastering trade or advance to higher qualifications.
