Printing, Photoshop, Contextual Analysis and Tailoring are just some of the processes that are used to design and make garments, and students have the opportunity to understand how their work can be styled and marketed, through photoshoots and CAD development in magazine styles.

You will research industry standard project briefs to develop and extend your learning, and the College’s annual Fashion Show and Exhibition is a celebration of the skills and knowledge that you have gained. You will also learn how to become an independent learner, working on problem solving, communication and presentation skills will enable you to flourish in whatever the next step of your career path is.

To further enhance your employability skills, there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement. This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.

You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and an art-based subject. A relevant Level 2 qualification will also be considered. You will need to provide a portfolio of work that shows a variety of skills.

Retaking GCSE Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4.
