Photography Level 2, provides a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and techniques essential for anyone interested in a career in Photography. The course is delivered through a range of topics enabling you to understand how to research, develop and evaluate your ideas.

This course consist of 4 units, Unit A1, A2, B1 and C1 which explore a vast range of mediums in photography and will help you on your journey to focus on Photography as your specialism. The course covers a variety of digital and traditional photographic techniques, from studio lighting, location, documentary, commercial, advertising photography and Photoshop.

During your time on the course, you will also undertake a 5 day work placement which you will need to source independently; we will support you with this throughout the first few weeks of your course. We have some established placements available that students will be able to apply for. Past opportunities include curating and supporting at the Art Yard Gallery, producing promotional materials for the local fire service and automotive photography workshops at Santa Pod Raceway.

We offer support for all our students in a friendly and creative environment.

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English, Maths and an Art-based subject. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.

You will also need to provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates passion, commitment and energy.

The course is assessed by coursework and practical projects. The typical structure of each unit is research, planning, producing your own images and developing through considered reflection.

You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course including Photography, Graphics and Media.

This course could put you on the path to a career in Photography, including Advertising, Commercial or Studio and Digital Marketing.
