This course is made up of 4 components over 2 years and covers a variety of digital and traditional Photography techniques from studio lighting, location and documentary photography to videography, Photoshop and darkroom techniques.
You will also undertake a 5 day work placement which you will need to source; we will support you with this throughout the first few weeks of your course. We have some established placements available that students will be able to apply for.
We also take part in cross curricular work where you will get to experience the Mayfly festival and work alongside the Fashion students on the catwalk. We try to incorporate trips where appropriate, exploring a range of themes and helping you with research and influencing your final photographic pieces.
The course is delivered in a way that with our support and guidance, allows you to be creative and independent in your learning, giving you the opportunity to really explore your photography skills in a way that will help you create a body of work and help you progress into the work environment or continue your studies at a higher level.
You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including Maths, English and an Art based subject. You will also need to provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates passion, commitment and energy.
The course is assessed through coursework. You will work on assignments that have set deadlines and you will be expected to show evidence of how your work has been created. You will have the opportunity to exhibit your work at the College’s End of Year Show.
You can progress to a range of higher level and professional qualifications.
This course is ideal if you are interested in a career working in Studio Photography, Journalism, Digital Marketing, and Forensic, Fashion or Commercial Photography
