The UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design course provides a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and techniques essential for anyone interested in a career in Art & Design. The course is delivered through a range of interesting projects which will enable you to research, develop and refine your own creative ideas.
The course will help you to explore the work of well-known artists and designers, as well as develop your own practical skills working with both 2D and 3D art media. In addition to an animation project the course allows you to choose your final end of year project.
To complement our class based work we encourage students to take full advantage of the various trips we organise to local and national exhibitions.
To further enhance your employability skills there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement. This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.
You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English, Maths and Art. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.
You will also need to provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates passion, commitment and energy.
Your work is continually assessed throughout the course, enabling us to help you reach your full potential.
You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course, including Art & Design or Graphic Design.
This course could put you on the path to a career as a Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Animator, Fine Artist, Jeweller, Set Designer, Craftsperson or Art Therapist.
