This qualification is aimed at learners who want to work as a bricklayer in the construction sector. It allows them to develop the skills required for employment and/or career progression. Learners will build on their knowledge from Level 1 and study more advanced techniques, including:

Carrying out safe working practices in construction
Interpreting information and quantities for bricklaying
Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
Constructing cavity walling forming masonry structures

Course content

Learners must complete the following mandatory units:

Principles of construction, information and communication
Contribute to setting out and building of masonry structures up to damp proof course
Carrying out blocklaying activities
Carrying out bricklaying activities
Carrying out cavity walling activities
Health, safety and welfare in construction

What do I need?

Completion of a Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying or equivalent experience.

A grade 3 in GCSE Maths and English is also required.

How will I be assessed?

Written multiple-choice tests on principles of construction, health and safety, and technical knowledge
Practical assessments involving advanced bricklaying tasks such as cavity walling, solid walling, and setting out structures

Where can it take me?

Learners can progress directly into employment as a trainee bricklayer or an apprenticeship in construction.
